(i) When we observe the graph, we find —

Total distance travelled in interval 1 s to 5 s = 18 m – 6 m = 12 m

Hence, the total distance travelled in interval 1 s to 5 s = 12 m

(ii) As we know,

Avg. velocity = Total\ distance \over Total\ Time

= 18 - 6 \over 5 - 1

= 12 \over 4

= 3 ms-1

Hence, the average velocity of the car in interval 1 s to 5 s is 3 ms-1.
