Question

What is a recessive gene?

WhatsApp

Answer

A recessive gene is one that only produces its effect when an organism has two copies of the gene. If an organism only has one copy of the recessive gene, the other gene, which is called the dominant gene, will produce its effect instead.

For example, the gene for brown eyes is dominant over the gene for blue eyes. This means that if a person has one brown eye gene and one blue eye gene, they will have brown eyes.
