Answer

Question

Mention differences between TSH and ACTH.

Answer

TSH stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone while ACTH stands for Adrenocorticotropic Hormone.

The main differences between TSH and ACTH are:

  1. TSH is secreted by the pituitary gland, while ACTH is also secreted by the pituitary gland, specifically the anterior pituitary.
  2. TSH regulates the production of thyroid hormones, while ACTH regulates the production of cortisol and other steroid hormones in the adrenal glands.
  3. TSH secretion is stimulated by Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone (TRH) from the hypothalamus, while ACTH secretion is stimulated by Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone (CRH) from the hypothalamus.
