Answer
Coefficient of apparent expansion: The apparent increase in volume per unit original volume of a liquid for a rise in temperature of 1°C is called the coefficient of apparent expansion of the liquid.
Coefficient of real expansion: The actual increase in volume per unit original volume of a liquid for a rise in temperature of 1°C is called the coefficient of real expansion of the liquid.
The relationship is:
Coefficient of real expansion = Coefficient of apparent expansion + Coefficient of volume expansion of the vessel
or, γr = γa + γv
