Carbon monoxide is dangerous when inhaled in excess. Comment on the statement.

Answer

Haemoglobin has a very strong affinity for carbon monoxide and forms a stable compound called carboxyhaemoglobin. This reduces the capacity of blood to transport oxygen and may result in death. Hence, carbon monoxide is highly dangerous when inhaled in excess.
