Ramnath was a miser man. He loved money greatly. Once he lost his purse containing one thousand rupees. He announced that he would give a reward of one hundred rupees to whoever found the purse.
A farmer found the purse. He took it to Ramnath. Ramnath took the purse. The farmer demanded his reward. Ramnath said, “This purse contained one thousand one hundred rupees but now it contains only one thousand rupees. You seem to have already taken your reward. I cannot give you any reward.”
The farmer was angry at this. He approached the city judge. Hearing both, the judge gave the purse to the farmer and said, “This is not Ramnath’s purse as his purse contained one thousand and one hundred rupees, but this purse contains only one thousand rupees. The finder can keep it.” Ramnath lost all of his money.
