Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj, commonly known as Kapil Dev, is a former Indian cricketer and coach. He was born on January 6, 1959 in Chandigarh, India. He is considered one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket and has achieved many notable accomplishments in his career.
Kapil Dev began his cricket career at a young age, and made his debut for the Indian national team in 1978. He quickly established himself as one of the top all-rounders in the world, known for his exceptional pace bowling and aggressive middle-order batting. He captained the Indian team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian captains.
During his career, Kapil Dev set several records, including the most wickets taken by a fast bowler in both Test matches and One Day Internationals (ODIs), and he was the first player to take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket. He also scored over 5,000 runs in Test matches, making him one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket.
Kapil Dev retired from international cricket in 1994, and after his retirement, he was appointed as the coach of the Indian cricket team and also acted in few Bollywood movies.
