Answer the following questions

“But no one could give him a satisfactory answer” – Why do you think no one could him a satisfactory answer?

Answer

No one could give him a satisfactory answer because they didn’t understand his question. The boy was asking about the clouds as if they were lost children, but the adults didn’t see the clouds that way. To them, the clouds were just clouds, and they didn’t understand why the boy was so upset about them being gone.

Answer

  1. The question asked his father was “Where did the clouds go?”
  2. In the midnight the boy saw the clouds were dense, black one in the occasional flashes of lightning.
  3. Ans: The lad felt that his body was full of fire and fully dry of his throat in the fierce heat of the sun.
  4. Ans: The boy had to be splashed the cool water from the Persian wheel on his dusty feet. He then decided to wash his hands, and face and drank to his satisfaction.

Answer

  1. The old man said that the place where he once lived had not rained for ten years. The people there were very poor and were suffering from hunger.
  2. The boy felt sad and disappointed as he reached the mud hut. He had hoped to find the clouds there, but they were nowhere to be seen.
  3. The boy stood under the Jamun tree and let the raindrops fall on his head and face. He was happy to finally see the rain, and he knew that it would bring relief to the people of his village.
  4. The clouds shed rain in the absence of the boy because they were not aware of his presence. They were simply following their natural course, and they did not know that their rain would bring so much happiness to the boy and his village.

Write a story in about eight words using the following hints:

Two friends passing through a forest – a bear came – one friend climbed a tree – the other friend could not climb the tree – helpless – lay down like a dead man – bear came near the man – thought he was dead – went away

Answer:

Once upon a time, there were two friends. They were going through a forest together. Suddenly a bear came. Both of them got scared. One of them climbed a tree to save himself without thinking about his friend. The other friend couldn’t climb the tree. He felt helpless. But then, he hit upon an idea. He lay down like a dead man because he knew the bear won’t harm the dead body. The bear went near the man and sniffed him. The bear thought that he was dead. When the bear had gone, the fake friend came down and asked what the bear had told him in his ears. The other friend told that the bear advised him to stay away from a fake friend who leaves in times of trouble.

 Activity 10 (b)

Suppose you have been waiting for a piece of good news. Write a paragraph in about eighty words on your experience of waiting:

the news you waited for – what you did while waiting – whether the news had come – your feelings.

Answer:

I was waiting for news about my admission to my dream school, St. Xavier’s Collegiate School. I had been studying hard for the entrance exam, and I was really hoping to get in. I was feeling anxious and excited at the same time. I couldn’t concentrate on anything else, and I kept checking my email and phone every few minutes for a message. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I got the call. I had been accepted! I was so happy that I jumped up and down and started to cry. I couldn’t believe that my dream had finally come true.
