A car is running at a speed of 15 km h-1 while another similar car is moving at a speed of 45 km h-1. Find the ratio of their kinetic energies.

Answer

We know that,

KE = 1\over 2 × m × v2

Hence, KE ∝ v2

So we get, KE_1\over KE_2 = v^2_1\over v^2_2

KE_1\over KE_2 = (15\over 45)2

KE_1\over KE_2 = (1\over 3)2

KE_1\over KE_2 = 1\over 9
