Given,
Force (F) = 10 N
Mass (m) = 2 kg
time (t) = 3 s
Initial velocity (u) = 0
we know,
Force (f) = mass (m) × acceleration (a)
10 = 2 × a
or, a = 10/2
or, a = 5
Hence,
Acceleration produced by the body = 5 m s-2
(i) v = u + at
Substituting the values in the formula above we get,
v = 0 + 5 × 3 = 15 m s-1
Hence, velocity of the body is 15 m s-1
(ii) Initial momentum = mu = 2 × 0 = 0
Final momentum = mv = 2 × 15 = 30 kg m s-1
As we know,
Change in momentum = Final momentum – Initial momentum
Change in momentum = 30 – 0 = 30 kg m s-1
