Question
An oil of relative density 1.2 and volume 1 litre is poured into water to find the mass of the oil [Ans. 1.2 kg]
Answer
RD of oil = 1.2
Density of water = 1 g/cm3
Volume of oil (V) = 1 lt = 1000 cm3
Step 1: Calculating the density of oil
Density of oil = Density of water × (RD)
= 1 × 1.2 = 1.2 g/cm3
Step 2: Calculating the mass of oil
Mass of oil = Volume of oil × density
= 1000 × 1.2
= 1200 g or 1.2 kg
