Question

Give a reason why the metals – copper, silver and lead are electrorefined but K, Na and Ca are not.

WhatsApp

Answer

Copper, silver, and lead are electrorefined because they are good conductors of electricity and can be easily reduced from their ions in solution. In contrast, potassium (K), sodium (Na), and calcium (Ca) are highly reactive alkali and alkaline earth metals that do not exist in a free state and cannot be effectively refined through electrolysis due to their strong reactivity with water and air.
