The main greenhouse gases responsible for global warming are carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), and fluorinated gases such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs). The burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas, is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for around 80% of total emissions. Deforestation, agriculture, and other industrial processes also contribute to the release of greenhouse gases.
