Two Forms of Oxygen Found in the Atmosphere
Molecular Oxygen (O₂) – This is the most common form of oxygen in the atmosphere, making up about 21% of the air. It is essential for respiration in humans, animals, and plants and supports combustion.
Ozone (O₃) – This is a triatomic form of oxygen, found in the ozone layer of the stratosphere. It plays a crucial role in absorbing harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the Sun, protecting living organisms from its harmful effects.
