Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is stored in colored (usually dark or amber) bottles to prevent its decomposition by light.
H₂O₂ is unstable and slowly decomposes into water (H₂O) and oxygen (O₂) when exposed to light:
2H2O2 + light → 2H2O + O2 ↑
