Chow mein is a popular Chinese dish that can be made with a variety of vegetables and meats. Here is a basic recipe for preparing chow mein:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz chow mein noodles
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 small carrot, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  3. Add the onion, carrot, mushrooms, bell pepper, and garlic to the pan, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the pan, and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the noodles are heated through.
  5. Stir in the soy sauce, and oyster sauce (if using) and add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is evenly distributed.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your chowmein.

Note:

  • You can add any protein of your choices like chicken, shrimp or beef to make it more filling.
  • You can also add different vegetables like broccoli, bokchoy, or snap peas for added nutrition.
  • You can also make it spicy by adding chilli flakes or fresh chilli.
