Solution

(a) Displacement = Area under the graph

= 4 × 2 – 2 × 2 + 2 × 2

=8 – 4 + 4 = 8 m

(b) Distance = Area under the graph

= 4 × 2 + 2 × 2 + 2 × 2

= 8 + 8 + 8 = 24 m
