(i) Reaction Between Silver Nitrate and Sodium Chloride:
When silver nitrate (AgNO₃) solution is added to sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, a white precipitate of silver chloride (AgCl) is formed. The precipitate is insoluble in water.
Balanced Chemical Equation:
AgNO3 + NaCl → AgCl↓ + NaNO3
(ii) Type of Reaction: This is a Double Displacement Reaction (also called a Precipitation Reaction) because the ions exchange partners, forming an insoluble product (AgCl).
