With reference to your Letter No. 132, dated 1st February, 2007, I am sorry to inform that I have lost the book, Thomas Hardy’s ‘FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD’, borrowed from your library on January 20, 2007. I am willing either to replace the said book, or pay its cost with fine.
