Biography of Bibhutibhushan

Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (1894-1950) was an Indian Bengali author and novelist, renowned for his novels depicting the lives of rural Bengali people. He was born in Ghoshpara-Muratipur village in Bengal Presidency (present-day Bangladesh). After completing his education in Calcutta, he started his career as a teacher in various schools.

Bibhutibhushan is most famous for his novel “Pather Panchali,” which was adapted into an award-winning film by Satyajit Ray. His other notable works include “Aparajito,” “Aranyak,” and “Ichhamati.”

Throughout his life, Bibhutibhushan had a deep connection with nature and rural life, which is reflected in his writing. He received several awards and honors for his contribution to Bengali literature, including the Rabindra Puraskar, Ananda Puraskar, and Padma Shri.

Sadly, Bibhutibhushan passed away in 1950 at the age of 56 due to a heart attack. However, his literary legacy continues to inspire generations of Bengali writers and readers.
