During the water cycle, water exists in three different states:
- Liquid State – Water is present in oceans, rivers, lakes, and groundwater. It also exists as rain during precipitation.
- Solid State – In cold regions, water freezes to form ice, snow, glaciers, and ice caps. It remains in solid form until temperatures rise.
- Gaseous State – Water evaporates from water bodies, soil, and plants into the atmosphere as water vapor during evaporation and transpiration.
These continuous transformations help maintain the Earth’s climate, weather patterns, and water availability for all living organisms.
