Republic Day and Ambedkar Jayanti

WhatsApp

Republic Day and Ambedkar Jayanti are two separate national holidays in India that are celebrated for different reasons.

Republic Day, celebrated on January 26th, marks the adoption of the Constitution of India and the establishment of India as a republic. It is a day to celebrate the unity, diversity, and democracy of India, and to honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for the country’s freedom. The main celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India, where a grand parade is held featuring a display of India’s cultural and military heritage.

Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated on April 14th, marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who is considered as the father of Indian Constitution. He was a social reformer and a leader of the Dalit community who fought for the rights of oppressed classes, caste discrimination, and social justice. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated across India with rallies, processions, and speeches to honor his contributions to the society and to remember his work towards the upliftment of the marginalized communities.

In short, Republic Day is a day to celebrate the political freedom and democracy of India while Ambedkar Jayanti is a day to celebrate the social justice and upliftment of marginalized communities led by Dr. Ambedkar.
