Question

How are clouds formed?

WhatsApp

Answer

Clouds are formed through the process of condensation in the atmosphere. The steps involved are:

  1. Evaporation – Water from oceans, rivers, lakes, and soil is heated by the Sun and turns into water vapor, rising into the air.
  2. Cooling and Condensation – As the warm, moist air rises, it cools down in the upper atmosphere. The water vapor condenses around tiny dust particles to form tiny water droplets or ice crystals.
  3. Cloud Formation – These tiny droplets group together to form visible clouds. The type of cloud formed depends on temperature, humidity, and wind conditions.

When these droplets combine and grow heavy, they fall back to Earth as precipitation (rain, snow, or hail), continuing the water cycle.
