(3x − 2y)/(3x + 2y) = 4/5
⇒ 5(3x − 2y) = 4(3x + 2y)
⇒ 15x − 10y = 12x + 8y
⇒ 3x = 18y
⇒ x = 6y
Now (x + y) : (x − y) = (6y + y) : (6y − y)
= 7y : 5y
= 7 : 5
∴ (x + y) : (x − y) = 7 : 5
