Question

Write two causes of short-sightedness or myopia. Which type of lens is used to correct it? [2+1]

WBBSE Class X Physical Science Light – Reflection and Refraction 03 Mark 2026

Answer

Myopia may occur due to:

  1. Excessive curvature of the eye lens, which increases its converging power.
  2. Elongation of the eyeball, which causes the image of a distant object to form in front of the retina.

Correction- Myopia is corrected by using a concave lens of suitable focal length.
