Answer
Symptoms of two diseases caused by suspended particulate matter:
- Asthma: Shortness of breath and wheezing due to inflammation and narrowing of airways.
- Bronchitis: Persistent cough with increased mucus production caused by inflammation of the bronchial tubes.
Sequence of events when agricultural runoff is drained into water bodies:
- Rainwater or irrigation runoff flows over agricultural fields, carrying soil particles, pesticides, fertilizers, and animal waste.
- These pollutants enter nearby streams, rivers, lakes, or ponds.
- Nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus increase, causing eutrophication (overgrowth of algae).
- Algal blooms reduce oxygen in water, causing death of aquatic life.
- Contamination also affects drinking water quality and aquatic ecosystems.
Or
Three endangered animals due to poaching:
- Black rhinoceros
- African elephant
- Bengal tiger
Methods of conservation of biodiversity:
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Protected areas | Establishing National Parks and Sanctuaries to protect wildlife. |
| Species management | Captive breeding and rehabilitation to increase populations. |
| Education | Raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity. |
| Sustainable use | Using biological resources without harming the environment. |
| Research | Studying species and ecosystems to inform conservation efforts. |
