Maharana Pratap was a Rajput king of Mewar, a region in present-day Rajasthan, India. He was born in 1540 and was the eldest son of Udai Singh II, the ruler of Mewar. He succeeded his father as the king of Mewar in 1572, at the young age of 32.

Maharana Pratap is best known for his resistance against the Mughal Empire and for his military campaigns against the Mughal emperor Akbar. In the famous Battle of Haldighati in 1576, he fought against the Mughal army led by Raja Man Singh, however, despite putting up a brave fight, he ultimately lost the battle.

Even after the battle, he continued his resistance and continued to fight the Mughals, he captured many forts and towns, and the Mughal forces were unable to defeat him in a decisive battle. He refused to accept the Mughal rule and maintained his independence, despite repeated Mughal attempts to conquer Mewar.

Maharana Pratap is remembered for his strong sense of Rajput pride and honour, his resistance against the Mughals, and his refusal to accept Mughal rule or to surrender to the Mughal emperor Akbar. His resistance and campaigns against the Mughals have made him a symbol of Rajput valour and a popular folk hero in Rajasthan.

Maharana Pratap died on January 19, 1597, his death was not caused by any battle but by natural causes, he was buried in the Aravalli Hills, in a place known as Mavli. He is still highly revered and respected figure in Rajasthan and celebrated for his bravery and resistance against the Mughals.
